PanelView PLCs

Allen Bradley Panelview on eBay.
The PanelView Plus is a line of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) devices that are used to monitor and control industrial processes. There are three main versions of PanelView Plus Hardware: PanelView Plus & VersaView CE, PanelView Plus 6, and PanelView Plus 7.

The PanelView Plus is programmed using FactoryTalk View Studio, which includes Machine Edition (ViewME) and Supervisory Edition (ViewSE). RSLinx Enterprise is used for communication with Allen-Bradley PLCs.

PanelView Plus applications, which include the HMI project and communication configuration, can be backed up using the Application Manager utility, which creates an .APA or application archive file.

In order to use a PanelView Plus application in the field, a Machine Edition runtime (.MER) file must be created using View Studio. .MER files are version specific, and older versions may not be able to run .MER files created for newer versions.

Editing .MER files is generally only possible if the .MER was created for version 5.0 or newer firmware, and the option to "always allow conversion" was selected. Pre-version 5 .MER files cannot be easily restored to a project.

The Configuration Menu of a PanelView Plus can be accessed by pressing the key combination of the right arrow key, enter key, and the right arrow key again when the terminal is powered on. This menu allows you to access and configure various settings, including the clock, Ethernet address, and communication settings.

The PanelView Plus can communicate with other devices using various methods, including direct communication with a PLC, remote access using Remote Desktop Connection, OPC communication with an OPC server, and serial communication using a serial port. The specific communication methods available will depend on the hardware and software configurations of the PanelView Plus.
